I'm back

Been four years since posting and it's time I got back into things. A lot has happened since I began this blog - my husband had a brain tumor and when biopsied it showed the plaques and tangles of Alz Disease. But He is doing really well and is even back at the gym twice a week. Yesterday he spent time on both the treadmill and rowing machine. I take him up (no driving) and one of his friends stays with him and brings him home.

Today we took a bunch of books up to Truro Church for the annual used book sale. Then stopped at McDonald's to meet with the Legion group that meets up there as and when they can - today was the birthday cake for one of the regulars.

Then home and really enjoyed the cool weather. It's likely early for it to be this cool but we all welcome it.

Blessings

My first effort.

Hello, this is my first effort at blogging. So, a little about me. I'm a grandmother of 8 and a great grandmother of 8 also - and in all that mob, only three boys! I've been married to my husband, Jim, for lo these many years, 54 in fact.

Retired from a civilian job with the U.S. Army, at the Pentagon for the final 13 years. Retired as a program analyst as a functional manager for the Army's resource data base. That means I was supposed to know what the output should look like, and be properly balanced - not that I was a techie :-))

Wednesdays are a sort of at home day for us -- Tuesdays and Thursdays both of us do volunteer work - Jim at the Veteran's Hospital and at the local Recreation Center and me working with the English for Speakers of Other Languages program of our church - Truro in Fairfax, Virginia.

Last week we had a dinner for a Korean student and her family as they return to their homeland. Here's a group of us:

Today I managed to wash and fold four loads of laundry, finish the chicken broth to be used when cool weather comes as chicken soup.
